There are a variety of reasons why wheels on a vehicle may become misaligned, such as hitting a pothole or object, a kerb, during an accident or even just as suspension components wear down during use. Some of the most common things to look out for if you suspect your wheels may have become misaligned include:
- The vehicle pulling to the left of right
- The vehicle pulling or dragging under braking
- Excessive wear on the shoulder of the tyre
- Uneven or feathered tyre wear
- Steering wheel vibration
- Audible distress while turning corners

Important Information Reference Camber:
Once you have aligned your wheels to be straight this may not solve the problem as you also need to adjust the ‘Camber’ Camber which is the angle that the wheel is set from the vertical position when viewed from the front of the vehicle as specified by your vehicle manufacturer.
An example of ‘Camber’ is as per the picture below:
Camber example Live simultaneous reading of castor, camber and toe measurements. Jack & hold programme allows the vehicles to be adjusted with the suspension extended.
Wheel Alignment Fact:
If your wheel suspension is just ‘2mm out of alignment per wheel will result in each tyre on a 15″ wheel being forced to cover the equivalent of an extra 28 feet laterally per mile which will effect tyre life and fuel consumption.
